Vinyl - VG A few minor scuffs and a couple light surface lines on both sides, very minimal. Plays through with a little background noise at the start of each side that settles quickly. No skips. Labels The Baby Blue side has a torn patch across the Uptown logo where a sticker was lifted and took the label paper with it. The Sweet Young Thing side is clean. Both sides pictured. Sleeve Plain sleeve, no company sleeve.
Produced by Ed Cobb for Green Grass Productions and engineered by Richie Podolor. Cobb is the man who wrote "Dirty Water" for the Standells and "Tainted Love" for Gloria Jones, and "Sweet Young Thing" is his own song too. The flip is Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue," shortened on the label to just "Baby Blue." Plenty of bands took a run at that song in 1966 and 1967. This is the best version of it I have heard.
This is the recut A-side pressing: RE printed after the matrix number on the label (45-61032-RE) and Re etched into the deadwax. Discogs splits Uptown 740 into seven separate label variants, and this is a stock silver label copy rather than a white label promo. Roughly one or two copies of this 45 trade publicly in any given year, in any condition.
